The Lady Spartans had a tough task to overcome on Friday, September 11, and that was going head to head with the former champions in the East Coast Conference (ECC): New York Institute of Technology’s (NYIT) women’s tennis team.
NYIT are the favorites in the pre-season poll to win the ECC Championship, and deservingly so. The Bears have won the past three straight ECC championships and they continue not to miss a beat as they start off the year 2-0 by first beating District of Columbia 6-3, and now our Spartans 9-0.
Although we did not win a match, each one was hard fought and well played. STAC sophomore Eri Kanefu went up against Alessia Rossetti, who was the preseason player of the year in the ECC, and gave her a very intense match, although falling short in both sets, 6-2 and 6-1 respectively.
